Around the middle of 2010 ComAp Systems CZ implemented a commission for our Polish customer Eneria SP z o.o., the distributor of Caterpillar engines and generator sets in Poland. The project was for a newly reconstructed stadium „Wojska Polskiego" of a well-known football club KP Legia Warszawa where three Caterpillar 650 kVA emergency diesel generators were supplied by Eneria. ComAp Systems CZ supplied three control systems for these generating sets to Eneria with InteliGen NT controllers which enabled parallel operation with the grid network and fitted with a special additional function.
For maximum electrical energy supply and total reliability during a football match the control system ensures the starting of each diesel generator, its automatic synchronization with the grid network and its parallel operation with load splitting 50 % provided by the generators / 50 % from the network. The system remains in this mode during the whole match. This special function was provided in the case of any power outage during the match to ensure the diesel generators will accept full load without any interruption. In the case of a possible power cut the control system simultaneously disconnects the circuit breaker pursuant to vector shift and upon the network returning retroactively phases back into the original position.
